(More customer reviews)Despite the expense of this item, I bought it because of the brand name I trust and the claims of low maintenance. Boy was I disappointed!
After one day of use, the water in the base was yellow with what appeared to be algae floating with it.I have had to empty out and scrub this unit every day to keep it clean (note that I use only filtered water to begin with!). Plus its awkward design makes it more difficult to clean than the cheaper models!
Also, even on low it is noisier than I expected with what I consider a "harsh" noise, and it doesn't humidify as big of an area as it claims (although it is adequate for a medium size bedroom).
Add to this poor customer service and you have one truly disappointing experience.

Hunter 30714 HEPAtech Small Tower Three Speed Air Purifier with Ionizer Review

(More customer reviews)I really enjoy using this air purifier. I find it's easier to breathe and sleep now that I am using this. From what I've read Hunter is great about standing behind their product. The noise level was certainly as expected. It has Turbo mode, which should not be run for extended periods of time (couple of hours) and also day and night. Day has a noise level somewhere in between the hum of my microwave and the hum of my computer. Night is just a bit louder than my computer fan. I actually love the white noise it creates in the background. It's easy to move around for people of average mobility and strength. I took off one star considering the price of the replacement filters and lack of value priced alternatives. The pre-filter runs $20 and needs to be replaced every 3 months ($80 per year) and the primary filter runs $30 and needs to be replaced twice per year ($60). Altogether that's $140 to keep the air of an 11 x 13 room clean. I feel the filters are way out of line as far as pricing. I buy similar filters (20 x 24 x 1) for $6-8 for my home air conditioner and the primary filter on this air purifier is made of identical material and is only a small fraction of the size yet runs three times as much? It just doesn't make sense.

(More customer reviews)Had an old Hunter HEPA filter (> 5 years old) that needed the 30938 and they weren't sold in stores.Low and behold, Amazon had it from a 3rd party company and it was fulfilled by Amazon.Nothing special about the filter, just removed the old one and replaced it; also it came in retail packaging and definitely was new since my old filter wasn't as white.More like dirty gray.Perhaps it was because I hadn't replaced it in 2 years...

We hadn't had a dog for quite some time, so after a few days you could really smell the dog.I put one of these purifiers in "her" room, which is pretty big (we converted our two car garage into her room). The next morning you could really tell the difference.I will have to change the filters out in that unit much quicker than the other one in the house, but it really works in taking odors out of the air. It is a good buy!!

(More customer reviews)This purifier has all but kept my pet allergy at bay and has collected a large amount of dust/debris/animal hair that's been flying around in my air system.I leave it on all day and night.

The prior review stated that a ring at the base destroyed their carpet.This product is designed to gather in dirty air and spit out fresh air - not all of the dust is going to get pulled in and some WILL collect at the base - but unless you vacuum once per year, this is no problem at all.Just vacuum your carpet regularly.

I have light carpet (Mohawk I think) and it's fine.There is a ring where the unit was sitting, but this is from the base sitting in one spot for a while - much like a table leaves an indent in the carpet that comes up after a time.

This product does NOT get 5 starts because the filters are hard to come by.I have to order mine online since Home Depot / Lowes / Target / WalMart / PriceClub (and derivatives) do not carry it.

I've also seen other sites that say the controls are difficult.It's like a cheap car with automatic transmission from the 80's - 3 speeds and an overdrive (psuedo 4th speed).

Oh - and it comes with a remote - how can you go wrong?

Finally - the price.Amazon's price is ridiculous - Home Depot and Lowes regularly sell these things for $180.Occasionally they have 50% off sales.So, get the filters online, but definitely buy the thing in a store.

(More customer reviews)This just arrived and within an hour I had noticed a big difference iin the rooms air quality. My wife is going to love it more than I will, as I smoke and she doesnt.

This purifier is simple and easy to use. I also like the fact that you can lock the settings. This feature would be great for families with kids, especially young children.

As with any air purifier it is very quiet on low settings and get noisier on higher settings, especially the turbo setting. But then again its no noisier than the dishwasher, the central a/c, blenders, mixers, washing machine, or other air puifiers I looked at.

This purifier is good height and style.If my opinion changes after some use, I will be back to say so, otherwise I will be happy with this as can be.

If it is in the room with you and you are trying to talk or watch tv it is very NICE to be able to turn it down, to hear better without having to turn it off. Don't get me wrong, even the high setting is NOT that noisey. I highly recommend this air cleaner for the price and for the quality.
