I tried this unit and though it does creates white noise, I know it is circulating air. I tried the Honeywell model 18155 and what a joke; wasted space large weak fan. With the 16200 I like it blowing towards me while I sleep. I have to have moving air. Plus I like the ionizer too to help improve the air quality and perhaps help with my mood disorder. Another model to conceder is the 17000 it doesn't have an ionizer but a strong fan.

Room size ratings conform to the AHAM Certification Program criteria of 80% smoke reduction.Higher Clean Air Delivery Rates provide improved performance in all room sizes.Portable air cleaners will be much more effective in rooms where all doors and windows are closed.

I took it out of the box only to find out that the unit had a 220V, 2-pin rounded (European) plug.Nowhere in the online ads could I find this detail. I just looked again and still cannot find this in their ads. When I complained to Amazon and ANTonline (the suplier) about the problem, all they could offer was for me to send the unit back.That's not a easy deal with a big, bulky item like this.I ended up purchasing a 220 "step-up" converter for about another $20 with shipping and now it works fine.I wish that I had known about this plug and voltage issue before making the purchase.I might add that this is one of the few times that I've been disappointed with a purchase from Amazon.

I am a smoker and my wife is not but I no longer have to open the door when I smoke I just sit near the purifier and we are both happy, lol,
Also I live in Las Vegas such a dusty city in the deset and our apartment is so much cleaner now. I see the filter and have cleaned it once not because I had to just a personal preference.
some may say there is noisy on high but really it is not bad, low and medium there is no sound at all. I just keep it on high because I smoke.
I had a hard time choosing which model to buy but gladdid not rush and picked this one. no filters to replace ionizer if I want, osilating if I want, I am very please would recommend it to anyone.

(More customer reviews)So far I really like this air cleaner.I moved up to this model from a smaller Honeywell cleaner for a couple of reason.One being more air volume moved per hour, and the second is the larger, more "permanent" filter.The pre-filter should be changed every 2-3 month, but the HEPA filter should last 2-3 years according to Honeywell.You can get the pre-filter for $7-$12 so that's not too bad. I had to replace the filter on my smaller unit every month or two and it was $15 each time.

I do wish this cleaner was a touch more quiet, but what noise it does have would not prevent me from purchasing this unit again.

I have this unit located in the garage not far from a 19" TV that is also remote controlled.Although, I don't use the remote that came with the air cleaner, I did find that the mute button on my TV remote would not only shut the air cleaner off, but would also reset to it factory specifications, so I would loose the time on the clock and any of the two programs you can run.

This started happening right after I got it, and it took me the next day to finally figure out what was causing the random shut-downs.I'm glad now I didn't pack the unit up and return it.The simple solution was to cut a little piece of black electrical tape and place it over the IR eye of the air cleaner.Problem solved.

My guess is that this company sells reconditioned products! I contacted the compay that I purchased through Allergy Be Gone in Brooklyn NY. I was told to return the item, but when I went to return it they said that the return authorization number was expired (it was only good for 15 days and that is NOT stated on the return form. Very bad company to do buisness with. Now I am stuck with a broken $200.00 unit. Steer clear of this compny as no one there will take your phone calls!!!! Poor product, Poor company!!!

(More customer reviews)I have often looked at air filters with some skepticism.However, I kept visiting a friends house who had multiple filters with ionizers and noticed that I felt good when I left and the air seemed so fresh.After a few repitions of this experience, I decided to give one a try and I was most pleased.

When I bought this unit I had a cold and I was waking up with a lot of congestion and not sleeping very soundly.I put this unit in my bedroom and in the morning I felt much better and more clear.I thought it might just be that I was getting better, so I turned it off the next night and experienced the same congestion.Now... when I don't use it, I notice I don't sleep as soundly and I have more issues with being stuffy.

I am trained as a biochemist and worked teaching physiology.Based on my EXPERIENCE, not research.... I have found that I sleep more soundly and have less problems with allergies, congestion, etc. when I use this product.I also have a cat that sometimes comes into the bedroom and I'm sure her hair contributes to these issues.However, when I run this product it's not a problem.

Also... I recommend using the ionizer.For me, this seems to be the best setting and I feel at my best when this is engaged when I leave it on all night.I'm not sure what it's doing for me exactly, but it's doing something and I'm sufficiently impressed with the results that I'm considering buying a second unit.

Finally, I think it's convenient and easy to maintain to have the permanent filter.I know this product is s bit expensive, but I think it may be one of those cases where you get what you pay for.I've been in environments with other types of air filters and I haven't found that they work as well or run as quietly as this one.Also, the replacement filter costs can make the cost of ownership even higher.This is something you will probably want to consider carefully, especially if you have pets or get a lot of dust in your environment.

This filter is for the larger of the two upright units with handles (Model 17400) and for two Enviracare Models (62500, 12520). I replace my HEPA filter every year because I am very allergic to cigarette smoke, pollens, dust, molds, and other allergens and irritants. Honeywell suggests that you replace your HEPA filter every 1-3 years. Also, this HEPA filter has pre-filters which wrap around it, so you may want to order a box of those, too. The pre-filters should be changed every 3 months.

(More customer reviews)I bought this air purifier because it's reasonable in price and I like the tower design, which doesn't take up a lot of space.One thing I like about it is the optional ionizer.Most towers are ionic air purifiers, but I wanted a filter because I'm concerned about the ozone that the ionizers create as a byproduct.The noise on low is alright; it's tolerable, but I wouldn't want to sleep with it on medium or high because it's too noisy.I've only had it about a week and I think the air smells cleaner and I've stopped sneezing at home.I am seriously considering buying another one to put downstairs.Overall at the price I paid (about $70), so far I'm satisfied.

(More customer reviews)This machine is well designed.Easy to use.I would say maybe a bit louder than some of the others on the market; however if you look closely some of the others don't cover pets.Yes, pets.I noticed that a lot of them would filter cat dander.Also, I wanted something that would address specifically mold.This does the trick.I can tell the house is cleaner and have had guest comment that the house doesn't smell like musty dog anymore (though I didn't know it did).

As I said, it's well designed with many things in mind.I'm rather keen on the fact that the lights on the device has 16 different light settings.I turned off the lights since I'm very light sensitive.

There is also the option to use other filters and not be tied into buying their filers only.Great savings in filers and energy.

What I was looking for: consumer report friendly, somewhat portable/sleek design, dog dander, mold, and energy.(dont' forget the energy cost - it can be way more than the filter cost)

Great buy!Considering buying another one for the bedroom.

(More customer reviews)Of course we can't know how things would be WITHOUT this air purifier, but it seems (to me) to be helping.I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and I'm doing better.Now, we've also recently moved out of a mold-infested home, BUT we now have attached neighbors who smoke, and it's difficult to get away from plastic odors, etc. etc.I feel that this purifier helps.The science behind it also makes sense.I also like the feature where you can turn it down so it's still working but it's not as loud.Even at the highest "setting," it's not obnoxious--like a very small fan noise, I think.It's also very easy to move, etc., with its nice top handle and not-too-heavy design.The circular shape also makes sense to me (to circulate the air), and it's reasonably "nice looking" in our living space.

This was a while ago, but from what I remember, this was exactly the filter the website indicated to order."The company since emailed me and informed me that this was a 'one-size-fits-all' type of filter.Nowhere in the website or when I recieved the filter was this explained.I'm glad they let me know this, however I would have liked to know this ahead of time so that I wouldn't have had bad feelings or spent time researching if I had ordered the wrong filter. A little information goes a long way!
